In line with the mission in the health sector in the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) for 2016-2021 which is listed in the second mission, which is to strengthen the development of human resources with personality and competitiveness. One of the objectives of the mission is to realize healthy human resources with high levels of health and nutrition as part of efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals. In addition, to support the Ministry of Health’s program, Vision 2020, the Special Eye Hospital of North Sulawesi Province is expected to be able to provide services that are oriented towards increasing public awareness of eye health and providing quality eye health services to the community.

In the reference to special health services for eye health services, the North Sulawesi Provincial Government has developed the Special Eye Hospital of North Sulawesi Province as a regional referral hospital. Eye health services provided are secondary eye health services, namely examination and/or special medical actions in the field of eye health carried out by ophthalmologists. The construction of the Special Eye Hospital of North Sulawesi Province aims to improve quality eye health services to the community so as to reduce the prevalence of high blindness in North Sulawesi Province. It is expected that in the third quarter of 2019, the construction of the RSUD will begin using the multi-year mechanism.
