JAKARTA, October 28, 2019 – Since it was first launched on October 5, 2018, SDG Indonesia One ("SIO") which is an integrated funding cooperation platform to support infrastructure development that is oriented towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia has increased the value of commitment by USD3.05 billion (around IDR42.8 trillion - as of October 2019), an increase of 23.98% from the initial commitment value of USD2.46 billion last year. The commitment value was generated from the support of SIO partners, which currently number 31 partners consisting of Government agencies, development banks, donor agencies, philanthropy, multilateral institutions, institutions related to climate funds, commercial banking, investors, and so on.
PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur ("PT SMI") as the executor of the mandate as well as one of the Special Mission Vehicles (SMV) of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) in managing SIOs, continues to push the role of this platform to realize the acceleration of sustainable development and achievement of SDGs in Indonesia. Edwin Syahruzad as President Director of PT SMI in his remarks at the SDG Indonesia One Partners Gathering 2019 "Partnership for the Goals" event at Ayana Midplaza Hotel Jakarta today (28/10) explained that the role of SIO has mobilized support from various parties to encourage the acceleration of sustainable development and achievement of SDGs in Indonesia.
Edwin Syahruzad said that thanks to the direction of the Ministry of Finance and the support of partners, for one year the role of the SIO could go well. On its journey, SIO has been utilized to support the Government's efforts in handling reconstruction and rehabilitation in disaster areas, such as; Palu, Sigi, and Donggala, Central Sulawesi. Not only that, SIO also plays a role in channeling regional financing facilities, providing Technical Assistance (TA) to environmentally friendly infrastructure projects, providing Capacity Building in energy efficiency, and others.
On this occasion, Luky Alfirman as Director General of Budget Financing and Risk Management (DJPPR) of the Ministry of Finance, represented by the Director of Government Support Management and Infrastructure Financing, Bramantyo Istidjoso in his remarks, explained that the various program achievements sparked by the SIO platform were expected to inspire SIO partners who have joined and will join. Luky Alfirman also emphasized that the facilities contained in this integrated SIO platform enable the creation of broader benefits for Indonesia, such as; mobilizing and coordinating the Government's role, increasing access to funding sources and reducing the Government's fiscal burden in financing SDG-oriented projects. Through this event, he hopes to increase the SIO's performance exposure to the public and increase the participation of partners in programs that have been implemented and or that have been planned on the SIO platform on a regular basis.
