Jakarta, July 21, 2020 – PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) (“PT SMI”), as one of the Special Mission Vehicles (SMV) under the coordination of the Ministry of Finance (MoF), participated to support the National Economic Recovery program launched by the Government, especially in increasing the economic resilience of the people amid the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic. One form of PT SMI’s participation was carried out through community empowerment activities in the form of training on Vegetable and Livestock (Fish) in a Bucket (“Budikdamber”) as well as the provision of assistance for plant and fish seedlings in the Pengadegan Village, Pancoran District, South Jakarta.
Pengadegan Village was chosen as the location of the activity because of its condition as one of the villages that has a high population density in the Jakarta area. In addition, the lack of green open space in the area also causes the use of narrow land around residents’ residences as cultivated land to be very meaningful, especially to ensure the availability of protein consumption needs of the local community. Furthermore, Budikdamber was chosen because it includes cultivation methods that are easily applied by the community and do not require special expertise in their care.
In carrying out this activity, PT SMI cooperates with Yayasan Bina Bangsa Berdikari (YB3), a non-profit organization that is actively engaged in education and social economy, as well as farmer groups (Poktan) Pengadegan Village. On July 21, 2020, PT SMI provided supporting facilities in the form of 100 packages Budikdamber facilities in the form of planting and raising freshwater fish, 1,000 plant seeds and 2,500 fish seeds handed over by PT SMI to the Head of RT 08/002, as an advisor to the Poktan Kelurahan Pengadegan. In addition, PT SMI will also conduct training and ongoing assistance to 100 residents of RT 08/002, Pengadegan Village, as a follow up to this activity.
Budikdamber training will be carried out in stages with strict observance of health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19, including by maintaining a distance of sitting along 1.5 meters, checking body temperature to all participants and required to wash hands with soap and wearing masks during the activities.
PT SMI expects Budikdamber program to be able to meet the food needs of local residents independently and economically can help ease the burden of household expenditure due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, this activity is a form of implementation of PT SMI’s social responsibility to stakeholders as a company that is trusted, professional and prioritizes the benefit of the community especially in social, environmental and economic aspects.
