PT SMI and UNOPS ETP Collaborate to Drive the Energy Transition in Indonesia

Dubai, 5 December 2023 — PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (“PT SMI”) (Persero) and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership (ETP) signed a Cooperation Agreement to accelerate the energy transition in Indonesia. The agreement was signed by the President Director of PT SMI, Edwin Syahruzad, and the Director of ETP, Philip Rose, on the sidelines of COP 28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This collaboration is a historical milestone to pave the way for a comprehensive partnership in achieving an emissions-free future in Indonesia.

PT SMI as a Special Mission Vehicle under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, continues to strive to collaborate with various parties in terms of accelerating the energy transition. "With this strategic partnership, we will leverage the collective strength of our corporations to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable and resilient energy future in Indonesia. PT SMI welcomes collaboration with ETP in driving positive change in the energy sector in Indonesia," said Edwin.

Through this partnership, ETP and PT SMI are committed to developing the energy transition and its financing in Indonesia, which will involve government institutions, industry and global investors. This collaboration will include joint research activities, focused on the energy transition and its financial aspects, with the aim of providing insight and knowledge to drive innovative solutions. In addition, both parties will facilitate dialogue in various forums, conferences and seminars, and ensure the exchange of ideas on strategic policies. PT SMI and ETP will also act as intermediaries to facilitate investment in green infrastructure, identify energy transition mechanisms, and provide project preparation facilities to increase the readiness of energy transition projects and their financing aspects in Indonesia.

ETP Director, Philip Rose, stated, "This partnership signifies a joint commitment to overcome the challenges of the energy transition in Indonesia. Together with PT SMI, as Manager of the Energy Transition Mechanism Platform, we hope to provide support that has a positive impact in producing innovative solutions for the energy transition in Indonesia." This collaboration is proof of the commitment of both organizations to bring positive change to Indonesia's energy landscape, advancing an emissions-free, sustainable and resilient future.

About PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero)
