Livelihood Improvement

Managing the impact of loss of livelihoods due to land acquisition and resettlement through compensation, assistance, benefits for involuntary displaced persons; providing replacement land or compensation for losses for lost assets to help improving or at least restore the livelihoods. Ensuring that there is a standard of living restoration plan and its implementation.

Activities which are the Company's commitment to sustainable development by providing benefits to the economy, social, environment and law and governance with principles that are more integrated, directed, measurable and accountable and are part of the Company's business approach.

Income

In line with 5P (People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, Partnership) approach, PT SMI committed to ensure that all human beings can enjoy prosperous and fulfilling lives and that economic, social and technological progress occurs in harmony with nature. This principle ensures that the community has equal opportunities to earn a decent income from PT SMI's business activities, either by being directly involved in infrastructure projects, or by taking advantage of new business opportunities created by projects, hence increasing prosperity.

Connectivity

Encouraging increased inter-regional connectivity throughout Indonesia through the development and financing of infrastructure projects. Connectivity between regions plays an important role in increasing people's access to sources of livelihood, education, health facilities, and others.

Human Capital Development

Is one of the key components of the ESG framework that can affect financial, reputational, and organizational sustainability risks. Organizational ability to recruit, engage, empower and retain the best employees is part of the scope of HR development. Integration related to compensation issues, organizational culture/values, self-development, productivity, and employee performance management in the ESG policy continues to be pursued in order to create long-term business sustainability.

Core Labour Standards

Implement labor standards in accordance with the rights and obligations of workers, not doing forced labor, provide good working conditions in terms of administration and work rules. Apply/implement labor principles that are gender responsive and inclusive, do not make employment decisions based on characteristics outside of basic labor conditions, and create equal employment opportunities regardless of sex, ethnic group, religion, political views, caste/position, place of origin/geographical area, economic status, and the special needs of persons with disabilities.

Occupation H&S

Ensure that a healthy and safe work environment for workers, using a complete set of Personal Protective Equipment for worker safety, taking into account risks in certain sectors, including physical, chemical, biological and radiological hazards, and take steps to prevent occupational accidents and diseases.

Community H&S

Apart from workers interest, healthy and safe working conditions are also needed for affected communities interest. Efforts to carry out and inform the results of risk and impact measurements as well as mitigation efforts related to safety and health aspects must be carried out to affected communities. Prevent or minimize adverse negative impacts due to business activities related to land, water and other natural resources used by the surrounding community through the availability of an appropriate emergency preparedness and response system.

Supply Chain Standards

PT SMI collaborates with various financing partners, investors, and donors. The financing inputs and sources of funds are managed by PT SMI through the Company's 3 business pillars and SDG Indonesia One (SIO). PT SMI is also supported by suppliers of goods and services, including suppliers of office equipment and supplies, IT, and computers, as well as consulting services in the fields of finance, law, environment, and social. PT SMI's ESG principles are also applied to these supply chain companies. Determination of criteria for selecting supply chains, the selection process, and supervision are very important to ensure that supply chain companies carry out ESG principles properly.

Social inclusion is a perspective, attitude, as well as values that are manifest in every daily human action and behavior. This principle ensures all members and groups of society enjoy equal rights and benefits in the political, economic and social fields without discrimination or differentiation by sex, age, geographical area, ethnicity, place of origin, educational background, economic status, caste, religion, disability, health status, and others.

Empowerment

This principle ensures that PT SMI seeks to develop the potential of the community and overcome various problems that exist in the community, providing opportunities for the community to have access to resources to be empowered, such as economic opportunities, health and education.
