Supporting MSMEs Upgrading, Here's How PT SMI Pushes the Achievement of SDGs in Indonesia

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as one of the economic driving sectors have challenges in their development. Some of these factors are the uneven knowledge and capacity of business actors' human resources, the limited use of technology, the ability to read market tastes to the level of adaptation to existing dynamics.

In an effort to answer these challenges while at the same time encouraging the development of MSMEs so that they can move up a grade, PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI) (Persero) appreciates the implementation of the Sumedang MSMEs Upgrading program which was initiated by the Golden Indonesia Community Foundation (YMIE) together with the Sumedang Regency Government.

"The program, which will be implemented from 27 October to 25 November 2021, is aimed at providing space and also a learning platform for MSME players to have the ability to maintain sustainability and develop their business through efforts to strengthen the capacity of business actors' human resources, supporting facilities, working capital development. business, to access to marketing," said the Head of Corporate Secretary of PT. SMI, Ramona Harimurti, in a press release received on Wednesday (27/10/2021).

He said, this program was prepared by carrying out the concept of training and mentoring held at the Central Government Administration (IPP) of Sumedang Regency.

The implementation of the Sumedang Naik Class MSME program is designed and implemented interactively using learning media that leads to the active involvement of participants in understanding the substance of learning and implementing it.

"PT SMI's support in this program is certainly part of the company's commitment to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia. In relation to the achievement of the SDGs, the role of MSMEs can contribute to poverty alleviation (SDG 1) and ensure livelihoods and economic growth ( SDG 8. PT SMI as a Special Mission Vehicle (SMV) under the coordination of the Ministry of Finance which has a mandate to encourage accelerated development in Indonesia, always supports efforts to raise the class of regional MSMEs so that the existence of MSMEs can continue to be the spearhead for the empowerment of the people's economy, " he explained.

In line with the company's commitment to continue to contribute to sustainable development in Indonesia, PT SMI hopes that with the implementation of this program in the future it can expand opportunities and also employment opportunities for local communities, increase the creative industry of MSME actors, foster an entrepreneurial spirit for the younger generation, and of course can encourage inclusive economic growth of the community and accelerate economic recovery in Sumedang Regency.

PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) which was established on February 26, 2009 is a State-Owned Enterprise under the coordination of the Ministry of Finance in the form of a Non-Bank Financial Institution (LKBB). PT SMI plays a role and has a mandate as a catalyst for accelerating national development.

PT SMI has various functions and unique products/features to support the acceleration of infrastructure development which not only functions as infrastructure financing but also as an enabler through the implementation of the Government and Business Entity Cooperation (PPP) scheme which includes various financial institutions, both private and multilateral. PT SMI actively supports the implementation of PPPs and encourages the acceleration of infrastructure development in the regions through regional loan products.

PT SMI has three business pillars, namely (1) Financing and Investment, namely financing for infrastructure projects, (2) Consulting Services, namely solutions to the needs of professionals and experts in infrastructure and (3) Project Development, namely assisting the Persons in Charge of Cooperation Projects ( PJPK) to prepare infrastructure projects.
