Workshop on `PPP Project Preparation on Railway Sector`

PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) or "PT SMI" has been assigned by the Government of Republic of Indonesia to facilitate the preparation of two Public Private Partnerships ("PPP") showcase projects, namely the Umbulan Water Supply PPP Project and the Soekarno Hatta International Airport to Manggarai Rail Link PPP Project ("SHIA Rail Link PPP Project"). In order to undertake one of the assignments, SHIA Rail Link PPP Project, PT SMI with the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) conducted a joint workshop called "PPP Project Preparation on Railway Sector" on 12-13 July 2012 in Jakarta. The workshop was aimed as a capacity building for PT SMI's relevant stakeholders, primarily for the transportation sector's stakeholders and the government policy makers. The main subject of this workshop were to discuss project preparation, procurement (from legal and commercial perspective), contract and risk management, and also how to concept and master planning value capture from railway development. Dr. Chris Hale, Sustainable Transport Strategist and Urban Economist from University of Melbourne; John McEvoy, CEO of Holistic Infrastructure Solutions Australia; Mr. Andrew Chapman, Partner Construction & Major Projects, Maddocks; Mr. John Curtis, MD International, Freehills; Mr. John Davies, Principal, ARUP; Mr. John Fitzgerald, Special Adviser, KPMG Australia; Mr. Frank Kwok, Senior Managing Director, Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets; and Mr. Michael Tuckfield, Partner Clayton Utz, were the reputable speakers of this workshop.
